| Description: | Create a rose using the pixel art painting technique. This tutorial is best done with the zoom of 1200% or higher and can be done in any version of PhotoImpact. | |
As you work, use your mouse to drag this stickpin
along with you to mark your place.
Open a page around 100 x 100. You will need to copy and paste the rose and leaf outline to this page to work on it. Minimize PI and right click each outline at the top and save to your computer or click on the outline and drag down to the minimized PI and when PI opens drag your mouse to the middle of the new image page and let go, then just save your new image. Set your paint brush at the pixel settings: Shape-square; size-1 pixel; Trans 0; Soft Edge 0; and Click Mode-Paint as Object. Pixel art is created with the setting below, and Anti-Aliasing always unchecked.

The colors you will need for the rose are as follows:

The Rose
Take the small outline provided, Save to your file. Zoom to around 1200% or more if needed. Starting with your medium red #B12525 and using your paint brush at the pixel settings and your Mode button pressed, began painting your 1 pixel straight lines following the inside of the rose outline.

Using the same color do the same thing on the middle area of the rose outline. When you have this done start over again using the next color #C74242 and do the same coloring in a bit more than before but leaving a few areas uncolored for the next color.

Finish the rose off with the last color #D77171. Now right click select all group and Save.
The leaf colors are as follows:
Take the leaf outline and using the colors above paint along the same lines as you did with the rose.

Duplicate your leaf as many times as you want click and Send to Back and position your leaf around your rose. You can position your leaf by using the Flip Horizontally or Vertically or the Rotate to the Left or Right 90 or 180 degrees buttons only. Please do not use the Transform or other Rotate Method Tools these will cause soft edges around your picture and will no longer be considered Pixel Art.
Your Pixel Rose is now complete. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial.
Thank You.
